His story

MARCO MULASSANO

I was born in a place near Turin, I am the son of Augusta and Franco; Luca is my brother and Esteban my son.

In 2012 I decided to settle in the most beautiful province of Argentina, Córdoba.

My fascination with textures was undoubtedly born in my small hometown. Located in an area of winding hills in the province of Cuneo strategically adorned by ancient medieval towers, castles or neglected Romanesque apses worn by the passage of time.

I have always lived surrounded by art. The ornaments, the frescoes on the faded facades of the historic center, and the valuable finishes of the churches accompanied me throughout my childhood.

I think that’s where it all started. He admired the mastery of the craftsmen to recreate, with the intelligent use of light and dark, the fictitious moldings around the windows, or the elaborate patinas to give an aged appearance to the facades.

It was almost a no-brainer at the beginning of my career, to put on the shoes of a construction painter. Brushes and rollers accompanied me for a while, until I was lucky enough to meet plastic artists specialized in Trompe l’oeil, the art of tricking the eye.

The walls and ceilings broke into elaborate perspectives that framed suggestive skies, birds and wild landscapes.

From other masters I acquired knowledge of the lime technique, Venezian stucco, mantovano, marble imitation and chiseling.

From the hand of a well-known restorer you can learn the art of restoring frescoes, the technique of fire stuccoing and the art of filleting.

Passion for art, curiosity and search for excellence have been a constant since I started.

Later, as the city of Turin was close to my house, I entered the Albertine Academy of Fine Arts. There I studied sculpture and painting; working at night as a waiter in a restaurant. It was there that I met the person who brought me to Argentina and where I began a new stage of my new life.

Stucchi Italiani  was born as a dream that I was determined to make come true.

Within my baggage from Italy, there were books of old pictorial recipes, which, added to the experience acquired working in Italy, allowed me to begin to give shape to this dream. The economic reality of Argentina when I started working reinforced the idea of working with materials that were easily available, that is, local.

I studied the limes, I visited quarries; I discovered the past of the old masters who decorated the hallways with the fire plastering technique and the decorations of the Italianate style houses. I spent a few years studying and practicing “potions” while I graduated as an Interior Designer and wrote for the Architecture supplement of the local Córdoba morning newspaper.

Suddenly it was January 16, 2008, life would surprise me in an extraordinary way, Esteban Renato Mulassano, my son, came into the world.

From that date until today, an incredible vertigo overwhelms me when I stop and realize that, what I dreamed of yesterday, today stands robustly in the Stucchi Italiani brand. A brand that is recognized in the national and international market.
